A week of events, conferences and insights into achieving a biodiversity-positive status by 2030

During the week of June 17th to 23rd, the 7th European Congress of Conservation Biology in Bologna, Italy, aimed to work towards achieving a biodiversity-positive status by 2030. The ECCB aimed to facilitate the exchange of conservation science and nature conservation practice and policy to promote the conservation of biological diversity in Europe. LifeWatch ERIC participated to the congress with a booth where we showcased our services and projects and two oral presentations.

News from the World of Research

In May 2024, the 4th RESTORE4Cs General Assembly occurred in Valencia, Spain. It included presentations on project developments and concluded with a visit to the Marjal dels Moros Case Pilot and the Albufera Natural Park.

The international Soil Biodiversity Data Warehouse Edaphobase  signed an agreement with LifeWatch Belgium's World Register of Marine Species. This collaboration aims to improve access to taxonomic and data for scientific research.

The international Gran Paradiso Summer School took place from June 21 to 28 in the Gran Paradiso National Park mountains in Italy,  organised by Timothy White from Pennsylvania State University and Antonello Provenzale from CNR IGG.

LifeWatch ERIC participated in the 2024 Annual Meeting of the Biodiversity Digital Twin (BioDT) project in Leipzig, Germany. The meeting covered operational models of physical Digital Twins (pDTs), and more.

Have 5 minutes to spare?

LifeWatch Italy launched a survey to identify common challenges and future opportunities to improve the application of FAIR practices in biodiversity and ecosystem research.


The survey consists of a series of questions and should take no more than 5-10 minutes to complete. All responses will be kept confidential and anonymous and will only be used for the purposes of this research.
