| | LifeWatch ERIC is proud to be one of the 26 first signatories of the Disentis Roadmap: a mission involving some of the world’s leading institutions, experts and scientific infrastructures dedicated to biodiversity information. The initiative aims to enable the creation of a “Libroscope“: a mechanism for unlocking and linking data from scientific literature, to support understanding of biodiversity. | |
WoRMS has announced the top ten marine species described by researchers in 2024. The reveal of the list took place on 19 March (on World Taxonomist Appreciation Day). Selecting just ten species was no easy task! The final choices reflect the immense diversity of taxonomic groups in the marine environment, including crustaceans, corals, sponges, jellies, and worms. | | | | LifeWatch ERIC is embarking on a New project! Biodiversity Meets Data will turn biodiversity data into actionable insights. Fourteen partner institutions will collaborate to the creation of a Single Access Point (SAP) for natural resource managers and policy makers, offering access to biodiversity monitoring data, tools and analyses, and supporting evidence-based conservation efforts across Europe. | |
The protection and restoration of marine biodiversity and ecosystems are essential to promote a sustainable management and use of marine resources: a blue economy. In the Azores, Madeira and Canary archipelagos, the MarineSABRES researchers are working to secure marine biodiversity. Enjoy the stunning views of Macaronesia with our trailer, filmed during our visit to the Gran Canaria site in May 2024! | | | | | | | | | Enjoy this close-up of Libellula depressa Linnaeus, captured in stunning detail by Massimiliano Manno (University of Salento). You can spot the intricate wing cells and the dark patches where the wings meet the body. Its name is due to the flattened shape of its abdomen, but what really steals the show in this shot is its funny, almost thoughtful expression: we're convinced it's about to drop some wisdom! | | | FAIR Data Training Second Edition - Online, 1-3 April 2025
