👀 Have a look at what happened at the Semantic Academy

From 25 to 29 September, more than twenty researchers from Algeria, Zimbabwe, Iran, Türkiye and other European nations gathered in Lecce to participate in the Semantic Academy Intensive School, where they delved into semantic artefacts, ontologies, and much more. News from the World of Research

   

The Ontoportal Alliance workshop took place in Lecce from September 27 to 29. Together with the Semantic Academy, the two events overlap the topic of best practices in managing ontologies and relative data, learning from experts and sharing knowledge inside the research community.

   

Our Agroecology Project Manager, Iria Soto Embodas, presented the All-Ready project in the panel "Practice Perspective: How to put Agroecology Living Labs and Research Infrastructures in practice? Q&A" at the Committee of the Regions in Brussels.

Over 80% of European habitats are in poor shape. The EU Nature Restoration Law, adopted in July, is a first step to restoring nature across the EU and achieving climate and biodiversity goals. The aim is to cover at least 20% of the EU’s land and sea areas by 2030.

   

The 7th International Symposium on Zooplankton Production will take place in Hobart, Australia from 17-22 March 2024. Researchers in the field of functional ecology are invited to submit abstracts for the "FAIR zooplankton trait data" workshop by 30 September 2023.

DiSSCo, the Distributed System of Scientific Collections, is integrating and standardising information from natural history museums, botanical gardens, universities and other institutions all across Europe, to create a business model that uses the same processes and protocols.

   

IAGOS, the In-service Aircraft for a Global Observing System collects data on the climate and pollution from commercial aircraft. And ENVRI, the Environmental Research Infrastructure community covers all aspects of Earth system science research.

   
   

Institutional Bulletin

Under the Spanish presidency of the European Union, the high-level conference “Global Dimension and Sustainability of Research Infrastructure” was held in Tenerife on 25-26 September 2023. LifeWatch ERIC Chief Executive Officer Christos Arvanitidis was among the dignitaries present in person.

   

On August 1st, 2023, an interactive online roundtable alongside gender, climate, and health experts to devise gender-responsive climate strategies focusing on health. Africa Zanella, LifeWatch ERIC International Gender Officer, had been invited to share her viewpoint and make her recommendations.
