Marine SABRES in Fairs is back! This time we will meet in Pisa on 14 January 2026, to learn more about the project’s activities, interact with experts, and discover innovative tools that turn ideas into action for the marine environment.

Despite being top predators, sharks are highly vulnerable due to their slow growth and low reproductive rate. Their presence is also an important indicator of good marine biodiversity, this is why researchers in Belgium are tracking them!

LifeWatch Slovenia researchers published a new article on  BioScience. They mapped global subterranean biodiversity hotspots to understand emerging patterns. The study highlights the exceptional richness of the Dinaric Karst.

RESTORE4Cs adds two new Policy Briefs to its collection, one focused on European Coastal Wetland Indicators, the other on Social Acceptability, offering practical approaches and recommendations to protect and preserve European wetlands.

As every year, WoRMS launches the nominations for the top marine species of 2025! Taxonomists have continued to publish many wonderful new species throughout last year, and we can't wait to know which ones are your favourites.
